zumba-logo-vertical.jpg Zumba is taking the Exercise and Fitness world by storm. Cardio is the perfect adjunct to a strong Pilates program. Although Pilates is a fantastic total body workout, I cannot deny, there is no replacement for a good cardio workout. It is necessary for a healthy cardiovascular system and people are losing weight like crazy doing cardio. I cannot tell you how many folks tell me they hate the treadmill, are sick of the old style aerobics classes or simply can’t do the high impact anymore! Zumba addresses all these issues in one fun filled, action packed shake your booty class. It is a great way to get toned, benefit the heart and burn calories all at the same time.It works because it is a form of interval training. It intervals between fast and slow sequences that vary in intensity and can burn as many as 800 calories per class. Being a Latin based program, it incorporates a constant use of the arms therefore -you can’t help but shape them with no additional weight lifting. With the nature of the movements you get a really great leg work out too. Most surprisingly to me, were the similarities to some of the Belly Dance moves I experience in my Belly Dance class here at Metamorphosis. I am able to cue them easily while teaching my Zumba class. I KNOW RIGHT… Cueing  in Zumba?  Surprise - I DO CUE in Zumba when most Zumba instructors do not. I want my class participants to feel successful AND SAFE. I have been teaching group exercise for 18 years and I never met a class that didn’t like to be verbally cued.All in all, you get a great cardio workout that naturally relieves stress because: it a ton of fun and you will laugh at yourself for shaking things maybe you haven’t tried shaking in awhile. It works abdominal muscles that we typically miss in our abdominal routines which in turn strengthen the back. It burns plenty of calories shaping up the entire body and it is sexy! Don’t be afraid of it, just have fun.Safety is always first at Metamorphosis. Who is Metamorphosis Pilates?

 

Metamorphosis Pilates and Fitness, LLC was created in the summer of 2004 by its President, Sharon Tringali. Sharon is a certified Power Pilates instructor and has been teaching group fitness, personal training, and directing group exercise fitness facility activities for more than 18 years.
